I enjoy being outdoors, whether in the city or out in nature, and my photography is inspired by what I notice around me. Patterns, symmetries, light and colour draw me in. I love nature’s way of repeating the same forms with infinite variety. Architecture’s reflection of this repeating of forms is a sub-theme in my work. I am fascinated how our use of buildings infuses them with a more organic nature. But perhaps what excites me most are the moments where elements of a scene serendipitously coincide in their shape, pattern or colour. It could be the shape of a cloud and trees, the colour of a person’s jacket, or the way two people walk. This alignment and connection formed between elements gives me a buzz.
I’m happy to live in a quiet corner of Sheffield, looking out to the hills of the Peak District.
